A VERY SAD NEWS

Our board of directors member Martha De Laurentiis has passed away, on Sunday, December 5th, following a short battle against cancer. She was 67.

In 2020, in Venice, ITTV honored Martha with the ITTV Award for her work as the executive producer of the critically acclaimed NBC series “Hannibal,” which ran from 2013 to 2015 and featured Mads Mikkelsen as Dr. Hannibal Lecter.  “Martha was not just a successful producer, a great wife and mother, an amazing woman, and our first board member. Martha was a friend to me, an advisor, an inspiration, and a smile in a room full of strangers”, says our CEO and Artistic Director Valentina Martelli. “ITTV will keep honoring Martha dedicating our next year Award to her”.

Martha’s career is filled with success. She formed the Dino De Laurentiis Company in 1980 with her partner and eventual husband, Italian producer Dino De Laurentiis. The two wed in 1990 and remained married until Dino’s death in 2010. The couple had two daughters, Carolyna and Dina.

Notable credits from across De Laurentiis’s decades-spanning career include “Raw Deal,” “Silver Bullet,” “King Kong Lives,” “Breakdown, “U-571” and “Arctic.” Most recently, she is credited as an executive producer on director Keith Thomas’ new adaptation of “Firestarter,” set to release in 2022.
